The Audi 100 is an executive mid-size sedan (E-segment) produced from 1968 to 1994. It played a pivotal role in Audi’s transformation into a premium automotive brand, offering advanced engineering, comfort, and forward-thinking design.
Available as both a sedan and Avant (wagon), the Audi 100 spanned four generations (C1 through C4). It became particularly known for its aerodynamic efficiency—especially the C3 generation, which achieved an exceptionally low drag coefficient for its time—and for gradually introducing technologies such as quattro all-wheel drive.
The Audi 100 was offered with a broad range of gasoline and diesel engines, including distinctive inline five-cylinder units. Blending innovation, refinement, and performance, it laid the foundation for its successor, the Audi A6, introduced in 1994 as part of Audi’s updated naming strategy.
