The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class is a compact luxury roadster produced from 1996 to 2016. Positioned below the SL in Mercedes-Benz’s lineup, it became known for its innovative power-retractable hardtop (Vario-Roof), offering coupe-like refinement with open-top driving capability.
Spanning three generations (R170, R171, and R172), the SLK-Class featured a wide range of gasoline engines, from supercharged or turbocharged four-cylinders to V6 and high-performance AMG V8 variants. It delivered a blend of sporty handling, everyday comfort, and premium craftsmanship.
In 2016, the SLK was renamed the SLC-Class as part of Mercedes-Benz’s revised naming strategy, continuing the model’s legacy with updated styling and technology.
