The Simca 1307 and its sedan sibling, the Talbot Solara, represent a key chapter in European car history of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Developed by Chrysler Europe and later marketed under the Talbot brand after Peugeot’s acquisition, these models were known for combining modern hatchback practicality with executive-class comfort.
The 1307 was voted European Car of the Year 1976, praised for its spacious interior, front-wheel drive, and advanced design for its era. The later Solara offered a traditional trunk instead of a hatch, targeting more conservative buyers. Both models shared mechanical parts and engines ranging from 1.3 L to 1.6 L, and they became popular across Europe for their comfort and solid road manners.
