The Jiangnan Alto is a subcompact city car produced in China from the 1990s under license from Suzuki. Based on earlier generations of the Suzuki Alto, it was positioned as an ultra-low-cost entry-level vehicle for the domestic market.
Built on a transverse-engine unibody layout with a small gasoline engine, it focused on affordability and basic transportation. Its simplified design and extended production cycle made it one of the lowest-priced passenger cars available in China during its lifespan.
