The Mazda 2 is a subcompact car developed by Japanese manufacturer Mazda, designed to combine fuel efficiency, practicality, and agile handling. Introduced in 2002 as the successor to the Mazda Demio, it has been produced across several generations, with the Demio name continuing in Japan until 2019. Available primarily as a five-door hatchback, the Mazda 2 has also been offered in sedan form in selected markets. Depending on the generation, it features petrol, diesel, and mild-hybrid powertrains, while a Toyota Yaris-based full-hybrid version has also been marketed in Europe. With its compact dimensions, lightweight construction, and responsive driving dynamics, the Mazda 2 emphasizes everyday usability and driving enjoyment.
